Wood Street is benefiting from a programme of public projects to enhance the character of this street. These include the projects below.
The programme is supported by London Borough of Waltham Forest and the Mayor’s Outer London Fund, which is helping increase the vibrancy and growth of high street places across London. Within Waltham Forest, Wood Street it is one of nine key regeneration areas benefiting from shop front improvements in their plan to create better high streets across the borough.
Transport for London funding has enabled public realm improvements to the length of Wood Street and the Plaza and Wood Street was successful in securing a further round of funding from the Outer London Fund and the programme of works is continuing.
In Outer London Fund Round 1, the advisory design team was East architecture, landscape, urban design, Gort Scott architects, Ashley McCormick (curator of public projects) and Creatmosphere (lighting designers). In Outer London Fund Round 2, the team is East architecture, landscape, urban design and Ashley McCormick.
The projects are delivered by a large creative team which has included Vic Lee, Emily Tracy, Lizzie Hobbs, Artillery, Della Rees, Verity Jane Keefe, Cath Campbell and all the SHOPPORTUNITY artists and designers.
